Dark world, sense movement.
Hair rises expectantly,
Still air rushes past.
Scarlet hare is spurned
But till the five passes fall,
The seat faces north.

Pat - again
friend, my thoughts of thee
you suck, suck, suck, suck, suck, suck
suckity suck, suck.
my dearest friend there
bite me, bite me, bite.
me, bite, me bite, me bite, me.
you suck, suck, suck, suck, suck, suck
suckity suck, suck.
my dearest friend there
bite me, bite me, bite.
me, bite, me bite, me bite, me.
Pat - On call
patiently, I sit
alert; ready for action
for i am on call.
conflicted, i feel.
should i wish the phone ring? or..
take solace in calm?

What was a haiku?
Wikipedia told me
So now this you see
But why did that rhyme?
Because my brain is too fat
Let's leave it at that
I have been well, but
I bludge in the evening
As work is tiring

Mortifying photographs
Punches well-deserved.
In just two day’s time
Tutor’s feedback but no mark
One more weeks' waiting.
To seek/not to seek?
Christmas casual job for cash
Need it for Japan.
Hot and yet still Spring
No air-con in my house: death
Mango season, but.

Haiku replies
I asked my friends to tell me about their current life / status in haiku form :) Beginning with mine...
Work, morning dusk dawn
Ending current job, no loose ends
Next month, Macquarie.
Heart confused and torn
One loved but cannot be mine
Other my mind doubts
Weekends, wedding more
Red and white, two become one
The cake is a lie.
P.S Don't read too much into it :P

Oh a note...
If you haven't figured it out, I gave up on the whole blogging the HK/Macau/Tokyo trip :)
Love: a disection by a finance student...
AR: well...life is a riskat least it is for something worthwhile or
promising at the time. Better than just having random relationships with ppl you
just feel ok with. The diversification theory doesn't apply there; only because the fundamental condition; rational behaviour from all participants is not satisfied.

Part 1 - Pre-flight
Due to the wonderful traffic conditions caused by APEC, we left promptly at 7:30am for our 12pm flight. (Vladimir Putin arrived at 7:30 am that morning and hence the undercity route to the airport was closed until 8). Upon arrival we found that the rest of Sydney had the same idea :) The usually quiet departure hall was filled with people waiting for flights at 12. With a stroke of luck I bumped into Helmut! On his way to a conference and round the world trip :)

Oh yes, in case I forgot...Helmut, there was only one female stewardess on my flight and she was pretty average, the rest were..pretty average too. I hope it was better on your flight! (I did meet a very cute Hongkie chick though, but that's another story).
Lets move onto the the flight. First thing, for some reason Viva Macau prints their gate number where the seating is and their seat numbers where the gate is. So some passengers ended up at gates on the other side of the airport before realising they had to be at the end at gate 56. That's just a minor technical error, nothing much.
At 11:30 (30 minutes before the listed departure time) we took off much to the surprise of all the passengers. No complaints from me though.

HK Finally
I have finally reached Hong Kong after spending 3 days in Macau. Now I'll begin the slow process of documenting all the photos and videos I took in Macau. Here goes :)

Copyright fundamentals explained
Erik Heels explains in one of the most elegant ways the aspects of copyright and fair use. I've just linked to his diagram below, for a fuller explanation see his blog.
Now which form of copyright am I violating/using by doing so? :D

Goat wife dies, leaves kid behind.
Some of you may remember a certain Sudanese man forced to marry a goat after he was caught having sex with it (her). Well goat named Rose, died recently after choking on a plastic bag while foraging for food. According to News.com.au...
She left a male kid - goat, not human - and a grieving widower. It is not known whether she was cremated or turned into curry.

Photos from Restricted Areas
Via BoingBoing, the articles has photographs of the most restricted areas in the US - including a cryopreservation unit (where they freeze people for 'immortality'), the contraband room at JFK (have you ever wondered where all that confiscated stuff goes?) and a nuclear storage facility. Pretty darn cool!

Photos of Chernobyl, 21 years later.
From Uncommonpictures, a set of photographs from Chernobyl, especially from the town of Pripyrat. Now anyone who's played S.T.A.L.K.E.R will tell you that Pripyrat is filled with even Monolith guys and has a railgun to pick up... :) See if you can recognise the parts of the game from the shots! I'm so surprised at how accurate the town was modelled in the game! I see if I can be bothered getting the ingame screenshots lol...but knowing S.T.A.L.K.E.R's temper I probably won't.

Tracking TV viewer numbers via water pressure.
The Vancouver Times ran an interesting piece about how marked drops in water pressure (corresponding to toilets being flushed) correlated with the breaks in an ice hockey game; a very interesting example of a covert channel! This reminds me of that Futurama episode where the underground mutuals go "Oh its halftime...the tide's coming in..."

Man says book on lesbian sex 'disturbed' his son.
From Koco5, a man is trying to sue his library for $20k because his son found a book on lesbian sex. Oh dear the humanity! Conversative christian mockery aside, he is quoted as saying...
Hmmm yes, sleepless nights!
Earl Adams said his 14- and 16-year-old sons were "greatly disturbed" after finding the book, titled "The Whole Lesbian Sex Book." Adams said the book caused "many sleepless nights in our house."
Hmmm yes, sleepless nights!

Haloid
Description from Kotaku
I'm not sure if this is the coolest thing I've ever seen or the saddest. On the one hand, it has two of the biggest video game badass characters ever, first fighting against each other and then teaming up against a common foe. It's got a lightsaber dual, short-circuiting crotches, Matrix references, suggestive girl on girl action, and even a dance number.
All those things are great, but all mashed together along with fighting moves out of a wire-fu martial arts film makes the whole thing feel like a fanfic threw up on camera. Great dance number though.

Dinner at Iwa - Chatswood
The food gang and I were out again last night at a new Japanese Yakiniku/traditional place in Chatswood called Iwa. It's where the old Harvey Norman express used to be; opposite Krispy Kremes and next to Gelatissimo.
I'll keep this short...as like the dinner.
Food: Pretty good, except the portion size were tiny! Think $18.00 for 12 pieces of beef!!! Sashimi tataki was nice (except Cyb grilled hers lol!) I wouldn't recommend the risotto. Stick to the beef.
Environment: Everyone agreed that it was very nicely decorated with a ship theme. Very slick with individual cubicles fitting up to 8.
Price: OVERPRICED! As the others pointed out, the amount of food we got was inversely proportional to decor :P $25 each in end and we still weren't half way satisfied and had to go to Maisy's afterwards.
Overall: 6/10

New comp! and cursed Vista!
I build a new computer. A kickass computer. Then I had the stupidity to install Vista on it...

For the nerdy ones, the specs are -
- Core 2 Duo 2.4
- 2gb RAM
- Leadtek 8800GTX
- 1TG worth of HDDs
all in the Antec 900 case.
I must say the 8800GTX is one big card (I have a photo of it being larger than Cybele's face), and its one scary card! It's run everything I've thrown at it at maximum everything *drools*.
However...I had to install Vista...
Let me just say...that as fancy and hyped up its aero interface is, its not worth the pain of finding most of your applications (which check if you're in XP) don't work, and most hardware including my motherboard sound dual inputs (curiously Vista certified) without drivers. Lucky I still have my laptop around or my phone and mail wouldn't sync either!
So take it from me, until its more mature and companies start writing drivers for it - don't get it for the love for your sanity!

Clarify my grammar please?
Voltron: "Wouldn't the sentence 'I want to put two hyphens between the words Fish and And, and And and Chips in my Fish-And-Chips sign' have been clearer if quotation marks had been placed before Fish, and between Fish and and, and and and And, and And and and, and and and And, and And and and, and and and Chips, and after Chips?"
